- Glow and neon parties, UV lighting and blacklight backdrops, where bright icing colours are the whole scheme
- Neon-glazed cakesicles and brightly coloured ice lollies — the bare stick is the one neutral element holding a loud table together
- Evening sixteenths in a hired hall or garden marquee, where the lighting changes as the night goes on
- Summer parties with slushies and ice lollies as well as cakesicles, since the same stick covers both
- Venue and caterer orders — bulk packs to 10,000 for a season of teen parties
Frequently asked questions
How many sticks do I need for a sweet sixteen party?
One stick per cakesicle or lolly, and one treat per guest is the usual allowance. A hall-hired glow party with 80 guests therefore needs 80 sticks, so a pack of 100 is the sensible order. If the sticks are also going into cake pops or dipped strawberries, count those separately.
Do the sticks glow under UV light?
No — the sticks are plain FSC-certified birch with no coatings or additives, so there is nothing in them that fluoresces. The glow at a neon party comes from the icing, the drinks and the lighting; the stick is deliberately the neutral element. If you want the sticks themselves to react, that would need a coating we do not apply, since it would sit against the food.
What size stick is best for cakesicles?
Both 93×10×2mm and 114×10×2mm fit the standard UK cakesicle moulds. 93mm is the usual choice and sits neatly in the mould; 114mm gives you more stick to hold, which suits deeper moulds and larger cakesicles. The 200×24×2mm paddle is for oversized, statement pieces — it will not fit a standard mould.
Can the sticks go in the freezer?
Yes. Birch handles freezing without splintering, which is why it is the standard for ice lollies. Freeze the finished lolly with the stick in place as normal — the engraving is cut into the wood, not printed on, so it will not lift or fade at low temperatures.
Will the engraving affect the taste?
No. The lettering is laser-etched into the surface of the wood — no inks, dyes or coatings are used at any stage, so there is nothing to transfer into the food. The sticks are food-grade and safe for direct contact with chocolate, ice cream and set sugar.
Can I get a name or date on them instead?
Yes — our bespoke engraved sticks take any wording, including a name, age and date, with no minimum order. Useful if you want the guest of honour's name on the sticks rather than a stock saying.
Trade buyers can open a Trade Account and save up to 40% against retail prices. Ordering 100,000 or more? Hot stamping works out considerably cheaper at that volume.
