Ideal for a sweet sixteen
- Hotel and restaurant sixteenths, where the venue sets the tone and the styling has to be quieter than a marquee party
- Afternoon-tea celebrations with grandparents and family present as well as friends — the wording reads well to every age in the room
- Ivory, sage and dusty-rose palettes borrowed from wedding styling, where natural wood is already part of the language
- Place settings — a single cakesicle at each cover, with the stick standing in for a name card
- Cake makers and stylists whose sixteenth bookings sit at the formal end
Frequently asked questions
How many sticks do I need for a sweet sixteen party?
One stick per cakesicle or lolly, and one treat per guest is the usual allowance. A seated sixteenth for 40 therefore needs 40 sticks, so a pack of 50 is the right order. If you are also putting one at each place setting as well as on the dessert table, count those separately.
Can I use a cakesicle as a place setting?
It works well at a seated sixteenth — one cakesicle per cover, stick upright in a small holder or laid across the plate. The engraving faces the guest as they sit down, which is why a shorter, elegant saying suits this better than a slogan. Add a bespoke stick with names if you want a true place card.
What size stick is best for cakesicles?
Both 93×10×2mm and 114×10×2mm fit the standard UK cakesicle moulds. 93mm is the usual choice and sits neatly in the mould; 114mm gives you more stick to hold, which suits deeper moulds and larger cakesicles. The 200×24×2mm paddle is for oversized, statement pieces — it will not fit a standard mould.
Can the sticks go in the freezer?
Yes. Birch handles freezing without splintering, which is why it is the standard for ice lollies. Freeze the finished lolly with the stick in place as normal — the engraving is cut into the wood, not printed on, so it will not lift or fade at low temperatures.
Will the engraving affect the taste?
No. The lettering is laser-etched into the surface of the wood — no inks, dyes or coatings are used at any stage, so there is nothing to transfer into the food. The sticks are food-grade and safe for direct contact with chocolate, ice cream and set sugar.
Can I get a name or date on them instead?
Yes — our bespoke engraved sticks take any wording, including a name, age and date, with no minimum order. Useful if you want the guest of honour's name on the sticks rather than a stock saying.
Trade buyers can open a Trade Account and save up to 40% against retail prices. Ordering 100,000 or more? Hot stamping works out considerably cheaper at that volume.
Also needed: Cake Pop Bags, Clear Cello Bags and plain wooden ice lolly sticks.
