How many sticks do I need for a 21st birthday party?
One stick per cakesicle or lolly, and one treat per guest is the usual allowance — so a 30-guest 21st comes out at a pack of 50, which leaves a good margin for breakages and tasting. If the sticks are also going into cake pops or dipped strawberries, count those separately. They are cheap enough per stick that it is worth ordering the next size up rather than running short mid-batch.
What size stick is best for cakesicles?
Both 93×10×2mm and 114×10×2mm fit the standard UK cakesicle moulds. 93mm is the usual choice and sits neatly in the mould; 114mm gives you more stick to hold, which suits deeper moulds and larger cakesicles. The 200×24×2mm paddle is for oversized, statement pieces — it will not fit a standard mould.
Does the wording photograph well close up?
It does, and "Living My Best" is a longer phrase than most, so it is worth thinking about. The lettering is laser-etched, which leaves a genuine tonal contrast against the birch rather than a flat print, and that is what a camera picks up. For close-ups, the 114×10×2mm size gives the wording more room and more stick to hold above the cakesicle; side lighting rather than flash will pick out the etched edges best.
Can the sticks go in the freezer?
Yes. Birch handles freezing without splintering, which is why it is the standard for ice lollies. Freeze the finished lolly with the stick in place as normal — the engraving is cut into the wood, not printed on, so it will not lift or fade at low temperatures.
Will the engraving affect the taste?
No. The lettering is laser-etched into the surface of the wood — no inks, dyes or coatings are used at any stage, so there is nothing to transfer into the food. The sticks are food-grade and safe for direct contact with chocolate, ice cream and set sugar.
Can I get a name or date on them instead?
Yes — our bespoke engraved sticks take any wording, including a name, age and date, with no minimum order. Useful if you want the guest of honour's name on the sticks rather than a stock saying.
